This is the first trick Kaushik learned when he was eight years old. This was
shown to him by an uncle. His jaws dropped with amazement.
His uncle then explained the secret to him and thus
it became his first magic trick that became a turning
point in his life. Kaushik still performs this trick
to amaze his friends.
WHAT THE AUDIENCE SEES: Performer shows an ordinary
wooden match, which may be examined and marked for
future identification. He then removes his pocket
hankerchief, which can be shown on both sides. The
match is then wrapped in the hankerchief and a spectator
is asked to feel the match through the folds of the
hanky. The spectator is then requested to break the
match into several pieces. Performer shakes the hanky
and a match falls to the floor. It is the same match,
fully restored!
SECRET: Use a large hanky with a large hem, as illustrated.
Previously insert a duplicate match in the hem. When
you fold the hankerchief with the second match, do
so in a manner that will bring the hidden match near
the top folds. The hidden match is the one that is
broken and the second match drops to the floor when
the hanky is shaken. |
